Historie

L’histoire du Helsinki Cotonou Ensemble est plutôt singulière. Jeune guitariste au début de sa carrière, le finlandais Janne Halonen tombe sur un disque de Lionel Loueke en 2005 et se passionne pour le jeu du guitariste béninois.

Cette passion tourne rapidement à l’obsession, conduisant finalement Janne à entreprendre un voyage au Bénin en 2009, avec la bénédiction de Loueke qu’il va écouter en Suède au sein du groupe de Herbie Hancock.

Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble's self titled 5th album is out and available on all streaming platforms. A vinyl will be available for ordering in near future, and the single cut "Min He Mon Égbé - The One Who Sees Today" will get a stunning music video by the end of May 2021. The video is directed by Komy Thomas.
